For a while now I have been thinking about shooting studio portraits which for me is a completely different skill and subject matter from my usual imagery. It’s a completely new skill too as I have no idea how to go about such a shoot. Studio lighting and Off Camera flash are total unknowns to me, so at the weekend I had my self some tuition on Off Camera Flash in a studio setting, and had a play around. it was great fun and I learnt a lot.
The lighting was a simple set up consisting of a black background, 1 Speedlight in a soft box to the left and a Speedlight firing into a silvered umbrella to the right. Flashes were controlled by Pocketwizards and exposure was set in manual.
