The Kirkstall Festival was a first for me in so much as i had been asked to be one of the official photographers for the event by Exposure Leeds. The day was blessed with glorious sunshine as thousands of people crowded into the grounds of the 12th century Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds.
The festival in 2010 attracted an estimated 15ooo people. This years festival saw live music performances on 4 different stages, including one in the Abbey Cloisters and one in the Abbey Knave. There were displays from cheerleaders, gymnasts, Morris Dancers, a falconry flying display and many more attractions.
My brief for the days shoot was simple… produce 36 images of people. But an event of such a scale provided so many oppertunities for good images that it was hard to condense all the images I took on the day to a final 36.
